Job Overview

The VP Finance & HR (Europe) is responsible for overseeing and managing region EMEA's Finance and HR teams and policies, ensuring adherence to all group rules and reporting deadlines. The successful candidate will have a wide experience in improving process efficiency and quality to ensure the best possible service for Gunnebo colleagues, customers and suppliers

The role will focus on working closely with the EMEA management team to develop and implement the centralisation and hub structure of the Finance & HR function, for teams located across Europe.  Critically, the role will ensure alignment with the sales market plans, ensuring the business provides fit for purpose support solutions to ensure efficiency and profitability in all regions where we choose to operate.

The successful candidate will be an ambitious and driven professional, with relevant experience of implementing change and process improvement into a multi-site operation.  They should have an interest in managing internationally and be able to travel extensively to visit Gunnebo offices, key suppliers and Customers.

•Overseeing and managing all aspects of the European Finance & HR team

•Driving Business improvement using the data available to highlight opportunities or underperformance 

•Oversight of the month end process including ensuring the completion of the General Ledger and Balance Sheet reconciliations and production of the P&L statements

•Providing commentary and analysis around the company's performance to the management team

•Providing financial advice to managers regarding initiatives to improve the company's financial performance

•Meeting with department heads ensuring compliance with all relevant Finance and HR policies

•Managing and coordinating monthly reporting, budgeting and reforecast processes.

•Completion of the commentary around variance to budget

•Cashflow forecasting

•Reviewing & Preparing the annual statutory accounts

•Submitting taxation returns and liaison with external tax specialists

•Liaising with external auditors and banks if required

Managing the company's financial systems

•Collaborate with Sales, Business Development, IT, HR and Finance functions to ensure company success

•Mentor and evaluate the team; providing honest and constructive feedback in regular review meetings in accordance with the company IMPACT performance management program 

•In line with the Gunnebo´s Business strategy, formalize and implement the organization's Human Resources strategy so that the organization attracts, manages, develops and retains the employees it needs to achieve its current and future business objectives

•Leading and executing the people management/ HR processes, at region level, in line with the Group HR strategies, as well as co-ordinate Europe global HR activities.


•Structure the Europe Finance organisation to meet the regional strategy

•Implement and maintain European standards, processes and measures for the following functions: 

•Analyse data trends to identify opportunities for continuous improvement

•Drive a growth and profit agenda, working with local teams to deliver and exceed on committed targets

•Drive improvement opportunities using the data available

•To work with the global finance community to deliver best practise and drive collaboration of aligned finance tools and initiatives

•Management and execution of the HR processes of the region/area.

•Coordinate global HR team, giving direction, technical support and coaching on Gunnebo global HR processes

•Ensure proper and effective internal communication as well as legal compliance and stable labour relations.

•Contribute to the Gunnebo Group HR Development and ensure a good climate & communication.

•Participate in Group Project and processes.

Person Specification

•An operational focused finance professional, with proven experience as a finance & HR leader across multiple countries

•A track record of delivering focused efficiency improvement using data analysis

•Demonstrable ability to drive change initiatives with a positive impact across an international company

•Able to develop streamlined support functions and market strategies to drive efficiencies

•Confident, collaborative, articulate and able to influence at all levels, through effective communication

•Analytical, with a focus on results and solutions

•Demonstrate sound judgement and effective decision-making skills

•Flexible and adaptable in style, with the ability and willingness to switch from operational "hands on" to high level strategic activities on a daily basis

•Credible presence with ability to build relationships with customers, internal sales managers and own staff

•Calm, clear thinker that operates well under pressure

•A high degree of commercial awareness and acumen

•A good working knowledge of ERP processes and systems

•A good knowledge of current HR legislation with practical experience in a similar role

•Awareness of industry's latest technology trends and applications

•Excellent communication, able to lead process improvement with communication to an international community

•Pragmatic; gets immediate positive results rather than waiting to achieve the perfect outcome

Experience & Qualifications:

•Minimum 8 years accounting experience

•European Operational Finance Experience

•Strong financial reporting and tax experience 

•Excellent written and verbal communication skills

•Confident dealing with senior stakeholders

•Ability to solve complex issues

•Able to work under pressure

•Strong attention to detail

•Experience using budgeting, forecasting and reporting tools

•Advanced computer software skills, including Excel and other accounting packages

•Professional accounting qualification such as CA or CPA

•Business & results Oriented leader who can develop and manage relationships across the company and with a wide variety of partners based on trust, teamwork and knowledge.

Additional Information

Place of work: Based from home, within commuting distances of a BUSS Hub (DE preferred) 

Reporting into: VP EMEA 

Reporting team: Approx. 10-15 employees in 5 countries 

Travel: Regular international travel expected (30-40%)
