Project Manager Technical support – Mass Transit based in MALAYSIA

Overall Job Purpose

BAEC requires a Technical support specialist for the APAC region in order to support its expansion in the Mass Transit market (Airport and Public Transport). The candidate will be in charge of:

Supporting the local sales organizations (EC) in the elaboration of bidding documents like tenders, RFIs and RFPs by providing technical expertise and required documents, data and information.

Coordinating the provision, preparation and commissioning of products required for the deployment of trials and POCs

Supporting and coordinating the realization of projects during the internal procurement and delivering phases by linking activities of the relevant stakeholders in general and supporting the coordination between the SCs and global project management team in particular

Provision of onsite and/or remote support and consultancy to SCs and SI partners during the planning phase prior to the roll-out as well as during the installation of the first gates

Provision of onsite and/or remote technical training for 1st or 2nd level support providers

Organizing and coordinating the provision of after sales service together with the local SCs according to the individual contractual obligations agreed in each project

Gathering and documenting site technical feedback and proposing improvements to the global product- and project- management teams to ensure continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Bid preparation

  • Supporting the definition of suitable products and services in line with project requirements
  • Gathering and providing supportive documentation to be integrated in the bid proposal
  • Supporting the completion of compliance lists including the integration of USPs

    Product preparation – Trials, POC and demos
  • Define exact requirements in terms of customization and commissioning of firmware & software
  • Coordinate with operations the purchase, reception of parts within the timelines
  • Providing onsite and/or remote support during installation and dismantling of the trial gates

    Support and coordination of installation
  • Providing project management prior and during the installation phase by defining the responsibilities of all internal and external stakeholders
  • Coordinating the communication and activities of all internal and external stakeholders
  • Organizing, conducting and participating at FAT
  • Coordinating the timely
    provision and (if applicable) delivery of the gates according to the project realization schedule and contractual obligations
  • Preparing and providing onsite and/or remote training to internal and external stakeholders who supposed to be in charge of the installation, 1st or 2nd level onsite support
  • Providing onsite and/or remote assistance during the installation and commissioning of the gates until they are handed over
  • Coordination the delivery and onsite storage of spare parts

    After sales support
  • Keeping in close touch with entities who are responsible to provide onsite 1st and 2ned level service support
  • Coordinating the replacement of utilized parts from the onsite spare-part-package
  • Organizing and establishing the 3rd level remote support together with local SC or partner
  • Conducting technical training refresh workshops
  • Organizing and coordinating the provision of onsite preventive maintenance
  • Continuous improvement
  • Compile feedback from installation and stakeholders in comprehensive report leading to improvement suggestion
  • Liaise with Product management to see through the proposed product improvement
  • Liaise with project team and external stakeholders to see through proposed project management improvement
  • Elaborate test protocols to assess performance of solution
  • Assess and test firmware and software upgrades following strict test protocols with clear measurable feedback

Required Profile


  • Experience in managing the technical support for large complex projects over a long period of time
  • Capability to drive and coordinate complex projects with important IT integration and multiple internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong electro-mechanical knowledge and understanding
  • Capability to elaborate comprehensive technical documentation
  • Capability to present in an analytical way complex technical information
  • Self-driven and hands-on working mentality
  • Experience and understanding about installation procedures and trouble shooting
  • Project management
  • Familiar with MS Office, especially PowerPoint
  • Structured and organized
  • Accountability and ownership
  • Good communication skills
  • Strong teamwork capability
  • English fluent

  • Knowledge of the Airport IT environment and the connectivity with these systems
  • University and/or professional degree in Electronics and/or Mechanics
  • Additional languages, preferable Japanese
